Races aren’t always won by those who are swift and crafty. They are sometimes won by those who are slow, decent, patient, and can endure.
As I watched the counting of votes for an election that under different circumstances could have been decided days ago, I reflected on the facts unveiled and the lessons learned. My belief that we live in a space and place where actions, behaviors, and thoughts of the leader was representative of a large majority of its people... was firmly, clearly and concretely confirmed. A leader is only as strong as their support, so never fear the leader, concern yourself with those around them.
So now, do you see and understand why a leader representing and depending on church and people, could not openly denounce or address:
• Gun control
• Black Lives Matter Movement
• George Floyd’s public lynching
• Breonna Taylor’s murder
• White Supremacy
People, it is what it is, take the blinkers off, be cognizant, be humble, be intentional, be prepared, but above all – continue to pray and remain hopeful! The lessons, events and experiences of the past four years were necessary to wake a people up.
• Some finally understood the value of their vote
• Some saw just how much church (evangelicals) are steeped in politics, over moral decency.
• Some realized that we do live in a society that values wealth over health.
• Some learned it is possible that even leaders when desperate, can resort to intimidation tactics, voter suppression and sadly, sabotage of the necessary postal service.
My God made this process slow and close so that, vote by vote, we can see openly and clearly the environment in which we live, love, work, worship and parent!
We have been shown TRUTH, we need to stay WOKE!
Be HIP – Humble, Intentional, Prepared.
